Dr. H. Ashtyani, Director And Principal

For the past twenty years, Dr. Ashtyani has held the position of Director & Chief of Pulmonary & Sleep Disorders Medicine at Hackensack University Medical Center, Director of Pulmonary Laboratory and Pulmonary Exercise Physiology Lab and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. Dr. Ashtyani is also Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), Associate Professor of Medicine at St. George University Medical School, Associate Director for Pulmonary & Critical Care Fellowship Training Programs at UMDNJ and Director of Pulmonary & Critical Care Fellowship Program at Hackensack University Medical Center.

Dr. Ashtyani is known throughout the state of New Jersey as one of the first doctors to study and specialize in sleep medicine. He has trained many physicians in the specialties of pulmonary, sleep, and critical care medicine. Dr. Ashtyani maintains high standards for himself as well as those he works with, always providing the necessary support to help his peers and students succeed. He is the recipient of the "Patient Choice Award" and "Physician of the Year Award" and a nominee for the "Golden Apple Award" for excellence in teaching.

His clinical interests include sleep disorders, pulmonary hypertension, shortness of breath, COPD and exercise evaluation. Dr. Ashtyani has been published in professional medical journals and is a sought-after lecturer on sleep medicine, pulmonary medicine, and critical care. Dr. Ashtyani's research interest includes Sleep Apnea and Excessive Daytime Sleepiness.

Dr. Ashtyani is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, both American Academy of Sleep Medicine and American Board of Sleep Medicine and a fellow of American Academy of Sleep Medicine, American Board of Critical Care Medicine and American Board of Pulmonary Medicine. He is a fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians, and a member of American-Thoracic Society, American Medical Association, Bergen County Medical Society and New Jersey Sleep Society. Dr. Ashtyani is also on the Editorial Board for the International Journal of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease.

Dr. Hormoz Ashtyani received his Medical Degree from Tehran University Medical School. He went on to complete his Internal Medicine Residency at Hackensack University Medical Center. After finishing his pulmonary fellowship training at Norwalk Hospital, under an NIH grant for training pulmonary scientists and educators, Dr. Ashtyani continued his training at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center.
